Szekszárdi Bikavér, 2019

Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) is the famous, traditional blend of Szekszárd. The origin of the name is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is for sure: by the 19th century Bikavér was used to indicate a deeply colored, powerful red wine in both Szekszárd and Eger. Kadarka was once the basis of Bikavér, but following the Phylloxera blight, new black varieties took on greater importance. Nowdays there are many family wineries producing unique, exciting Bikavérs expressing the essence of Szekszárd.

Bodri Bikavér is distinguished by a deep ruby colour, a developing fragrance of stronger-than-medium intensity dominated by black berries, bramble and black currant. It is full-bodied, with high alcohol, expressive fruit and a marked spicy character.
